SFPA Peer Support Seminar 2. Mobile Apps for Challenging Times

Presented by Katherine Taylor, PhD

On the mobile apps team at the National Center for PTSD at the Menlo Park VA, we develop and design free public mental health apps to be used by everyone! These are government-funded, evidence-informed apps that we hope to get into the hands of clinical providers everywhere. We are excited about our newest releases: COVID Coach, Insomnia Coach and Couples Coach, as well as our more familiar apps: PTSD Coach, CBTI Coach, Mindfulness Coach. This presentation will orient providers to these apps and to mobile app integration in general, especially for providers who may be new to app use.

Learning Objectives:

After program attendance, participants will be able to:

- Describe the ways in which using mobile apps as adjunctive tools can enhance mental health care

- Demonstrate effective ways to introduce apps and encourage use among clients

- Discuss some of the challenges of technological integration into care and potential ways to address these challenges in different treatment settings (private practice, residential etc)

We will have 20 min social after this presentation. Please stay if you would like. Joining social only is also welcome.

Saturday, October 10, 2020, 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM
